Junior Golf:
In the second match of the Leinster U15 Inter Club matchplay competition, Gowran Park put up a great display in Carlow Golf Club last Sunday before going down to the home club.
The first two pairings were very close contests and only strong finishes from the Carlow players edged out J P Treacy and Niall Treacy to give Carlow a 2-nil lead. Gowran responded with great wins by Phillip Dreeling 5 & 4 and Sean Roche 2 & 1 leveling the score at two games each. The result depended on the last game which went to the 18th hole with Mark Kenny just loosing out in a tremendous game. Reserves Paul Delahanty and Cormac O’Loughlin also competed and showed great promise for the future.
Next Sunday Gowran Park host Callan Golf club in what should be another close contest.
Junior coaching continues each Saturday morning at 10.30am.
Inter-Club Golf:
The FBD Barton Cup Team will face New Ross on May 8th in the second round of that competition.
Midweek 9-Hole:
The 9 hole competition continues throughout the summer. It’s a great social evening and a chance to get some practice in before the more serious competition on the weekend!
Just show up on the Wednesday evening (around 5pm) and you’ll always get someone to join up with.
Fixtures:
This weekend is the third Monthly Medal of the year, 18 hole strokeplay off the blues with points awarded to the first 8 players towards the Golfer of the Year league competition.
Club Matchplay Competitions:
The first round of the Club Singles Matchplay is to be played by May 19th – some people had to play a preliminary round to get to this stage and it will be interesting to see the outcomes of some of these pairings. Of course, you can track the progress of this competition through the Club Blog where the draw and results are published and kept up to date – go to the members area in the golf section of the gowranpark.ie website.
Members can now also enter for the Club Fourball Matchplay – full details on the notice board in the club.

New Swipecard:
A New GUI/Golfnet Card has now been received for each male member of Gowran Park Golf Club. These Cards are held in the shop at the Golf Club and are available for collection.
