Club News – 25th January 2010

Post 771 of 781

The weather on Sunday was kinder that it had been of late and after a brief delay, the fog lifted to reveal a course that was in great condition and a day that was ideal for golf. There was no wind to speak of and just enough heat from the sun to make it a very pleasurable day to get out and blow away some of the winter cobwebs. Because of the benign conditions and with placing in play, scoring on the day was good.
1st Neville Coen (4) 39pts (back 9), 2nd Tony Dunne (16) 39pts.
Next weekend there will be an 11 hole stableford competition off the white tees.

AGM:
The rescheduled AGM was held recently on Friday 15th January in the clubhouse. It was well attended, especially considering the difficult weather conditions on the night. Captains Niall Kiely and Sinead Kearney are ready to lead in 2010. Highlight of the night was the announcement that Matty Byrne Snr. is the new Club President.

Ladies Results:
9 hole competion. 1st Kate Hennessy 17pts, 2nd Nora Barron 17pts.
Fixtures: Wednesday 27th 9 hole stableford.
