Swinging for Success: Gowran Park’s All-Ability Golf Program Empowers Every Junior Golfer

Gowran Park Golf Club proudly celebrates the success of its All-Ability Golf program, which has been in full swing for over six months. From its humble beginnings with four eager juniors, the program has flourished, now boasting six dedicated participants attending coaching sessions every Saturday from 9-10 am.

Inclusive Coaching Philosophy:

Gowran Park’s All-Ability golf coaching is founded on the principle of inclusivity, striving to create an environment where every child, regardless of their abilities or challenges, can actively participate, thrive, and have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful game of golf. The coaching team, led by Coach, Dominic and a dedicated group of mentors, undergoes continuous training to better understand the diverse needs of each All-Ability Junior.

Personalised Coaching Plans:

Recognising the uniqueness of each child, the coaching team at Gowran breaks down the learning process into smaller, more manageable steps. This approach ensures that every junior golfer progresses at their own pace, allowing them to fully realise their potential. We focus on fun, smiles, encouraging each other and one day to play on the golf course.

Community Support:

The success of the All-Ability Golf program wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous support from various organisations and individuals. Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership, Golf Ireland, Sports Ireland and Gowran Park management have played pivotal roles by providing specialised golf equipment, grant funding and extraordinary support. The mentor panel, consisting of Past Captains, Past Presidents, Leinster and All Ireland champions, and dedicated parents, generously contribute their time to make a positive impact on the lives of our All-Ability Juniors.

Opportunities for Involvement:

With the program now at maximum capacity and a waiting list in place, Gowran Park extends an invitation to individuals who wish to make a difference by joining the mentor panel. Whether you have a golfing background or not, the club welcomes your commitment of 2 to 4 hours per month. Full training and support will be provided by an organised committee, with backing from Golf Ireland and KRSP at every touchpoint.

Get involved, the rewards could be the highlight of your week!
