27th November Updates; 1. The GUI has advised us that going froward all Juveniles and Juniors need to have a handicap and be listed on the Golf Net handicap system. We will allocate all Juveniles and Junior members of Gowran Park that don't have a handicap as yet, the highest handicap available. This will mean that all current members will be allocated a GUI number and a GUI card which they effectively will have as long as they continue to play golf. Once all current Juvenile/Junior members are processed we will issue the cards to parents and older Juniors. 2. We have been fortunate to add two very experienced members to our Junior Golf committee. They are Kate Hennessy our current President and Pat Murphy our President for 2020. The Junior Committee is now made up of the following people and respective roles, Resident Head Coaching, Dominic Bolger, Junior Convenor responsible for the overall development of Junior Golf at Gowran Park, Lorcan Lynch, Competitions, Eileen Tobin, Inter Club Junior Golf Team Manager Pat Murphy and Kate Hennessy Mentor Coordinator and supervisor of on course activity with Juveniles. This structure will further strengthen our resources to enable our Juniors to develop and enjoy there golf skills into 2020. ... See MoreSee Less

Following a recent Junior Golf committee meeting we would ask that all Juveniles and Juniors try to stick to your allocated time slot as the coaching sessions at 9.30 and 10.30 are quite full but the sessions at 2.30 and 3.30 tend to be small. In order to progress the golf skills the class size needs to be as small as we can make it so the coach can spend as much quality time with each child in order to progress there skills and ability levels. We will also be updating coaching time slots soon, as it was agreed that a number of Juveniles will be moved to Junior level based on there ability level and Juveniles/Juniors need to be in coaching sessions based on ability level where possible in order to progress there skill levels. Finally we will be selecting panels from the Junior golfers for the 2020 Interclub events which include the , Junior Foursomes, Fred Daly, Under 15's, Summer Boys Interclub. We will also arrange a few friendly events against other golf clubs to include girls events as we will be focussed on developing the on course skills for both boys and girls in 2020. ...
