Junior Captains Prize

Connor Lynch’s Junior Captain prize day 2024 was full of fun, smiles and inspiring golf from our boys and girls, well done to you all. Coordinated by our excellent Junior Convenor, Darren Carroll, with the help of his Junior Committee, Judy, Lottie, John, Dominic and Lorcan along with the help of Ashleigh and club treasurer Jim, parents, club house staff and management and our wonderful Lady Captain Lucy. It made for a perfect day. Well done to all winners and well done to our junior golfers, it is your trust in us that helps Gowran Park junior golf to thrive so much. If anyone knows of any girls aged 8 to 16 that would like to join our Junior program do contact us.

Congratulations to all prize winners and especially to our two overall winners on the day. Darragh Carroll took home the boys overall with 38 pts and Dearbhla Convery the girls overall with 39 pts. Harry Concannon & Dearbhla Convery were also crowned Junior GOTY for 2024 respectively.

South East Junior Open Championship

Over 110 Juniors from around the country took to the fairways of Gowran Park for the annual South East Junior Open Championship, all vying to win the coveted Harry Cup. A brilliant day and the junior golfers were exceptional. Results are as follows:

Overall winner: Thomas Langton 44pts,

Category One H/Cap 10 or less 1st Ardagh O’ Shea 37pts, 2nd Hugh Kelly 37pts (count back), Jude White 37 pts (count back),

Category Two 11-21 H/Cap, 1st Aidan O’ Shea 43pts, 2nd Dara Leamy 41pts, 3rd Will Bargary 39 pts (count back),

Category three H/Cap 22 plus, 1st Stella Langton 42pts, 2nd Javier Garcia 42pts (count back), 3rd Dearbhla Convery 41pts,

Best Gross Sean Sheeran 77, front 9 Odhran Prendergast 22pts, Back 9 Dylan Kerr, 23pts,

Visitor prize Cian Leonard 39pts, Girls prize, Ning Walsh 35pts.

Well done to the Harry Cup champion, Thomas Langton and we thank all the club volunteers who helped on the day, parents, club officials, Gowran Park management, the support of the many junior programs across the country and South East, convenors and especially the Byrne family.

Inter Schools Championships

Well done to our Juniors who competed in the Golf Ireland inter schools championship in Gowran Tuesday 24th September and well done to Michael Holland who won the boys nett category along with our Junior Captain Connor Lynch who finished 5th . The girls were well represented with Anna Kelsey claiming 4th place. Fantastic achievement considering the number of schools participating. Well done Juniors.
