Interclub Update
The last three months have been very busy with interclub fixtures. Since the first team out on the 18th April the club has played a total of 31 interclub matches. With some epic battles and hard fought wins and losses, five interclub teams remain.
Men’s: Barton Cup, Leinster Fourball and Leinster Men’s Trophy
Women’s: Leinster Women’s Trophy and Junior Cup
Below are the last match reports from these teams and the upcoming interclub fixtures.
Barton Cup V Royal Curragh
The Barton Cup team took on Royal Curragh in their 3rd round on Saturday 15th June, with two matches at home and three away. Gowran won their two home matches on the 15th and 16th and won the first match away. Final result 4:1. Team members; James Hurley, Patrick O’Keeffe, Joe Forristal, Conor Lynch, Joe Colclough, Richie McKeever, Matty Hanrahan, Ger Treacy, Adam Holden, Ray Hurley and manager Niall Brett. The next round will be played against Palmerstown in the quarter final, date to be set. The Barton Cup team have had wins over Borris and Carlow to reach this stage.
Leinster Fourball V Portlaoise
The Leinster Fourball team had a good win against Portlaoise on Sunday 26th May with both teams winning their home matches, Gowran won the 1st play off hole in Gowran to progress to the next round. Team members; Liam Hutchinson, Liam Dowling, Mick McKillen, Liam McEvoy, David Bambrick, John Clarke, Michael Fitzpatrick, David Foley and team manager David Fitzpatrick.
Leinster Men’s Trophy V Castlecomer
Gowran had a good win against Castlecomer on Saturday 8th June with 4 matches at home and 3 away. The final score finished 5:2. Team members: Adam Holden, Darragh Kelly, Frank Costelloe, Keith Kelly, David Fitzpatrick, Joe Colclough, Patrick O’Keeffe, team manager Matty Hanrahan. The Leinster Men’s Trophy team have had wins over Mount Wolseley and Abbeyleix.
Leinster Women’s Trophy V Mount Wolseley
Well done to the ladies who progress to the 3rd round of the Leinster Trophy winning 4.5:1.5 against Mount Wolseley on Saturday 25th May. Gowran won 3 matches at home and 1 away. Team members; Kate Hennessey, Lottie Boote, Ashleigh Boote, Jean Kehoe, Keelin Walsh, Brigid Mullins and team manager Niamh Connolly. With a special thank you to the caddies. Gowran have hand wins against Castlecomer and Mount Wolseley in this competition.
