JUNIOR GOLF

Gowran Park put up a great performance in the Under 15 Inter Club League last Thursday before going down to a strong Kilkenny side by 4 games to 1. In the first two games, newcomers Jack Foley and Conor Murphy were both defeated after putting in very good performances.  Mike Carey played excellent golf to be level par after 11 holes before registering a good win for Gowran Park.  James Bergin, playing great golf, brought his opponent to the 18th before conceding defeat. In the final match Ciaran Whelan, having to concede 6 shots to his opponent, needed a birdie to go up the 19th and just missed after a very high quality match.  In the consolation games both Harry Foley and Conor Cleere recorded great wins while Tom Bolger just missed out.  Overall it was very encouraging display and they now play Mount Juliet on Tuesday of this week.
