New Defibrillator Installed

Following a hugely successful fundraising drive at last year’s Captains Day where members and their families supported a raffle which raised €1360, the new AED (Automated External Defibrillator) has been installed at the 16th hole tee box. It is hope that in the event of an emergency this will give coverage for any incident occurring around the 2nd ,3rd 4th , 5th ,6th 15th 16th and 17th.

Gowran Park has also matched the funds raised by the club and will install a second AED at the toilets beside the practice putting green, which will provide cover for the car parks, practice green, 1st and 10th hole. It is envisaged that a further fundraising event will take place this summer to buy another AED that will be placed around the 9th hole tee box which will provide cover for the 7th , 8th , 9th ,11th ,12th , 13th , 14th and 18th.

The Club also held a series of first aid courses which included defibrillator usage training which were well attended. Over 24 members completed these courses and additional courses will be run during March and April. Courses cost approx. €35, take 2 hours and will provide you with a skill that could save someone’s life, so keep an eye out for dates of next courses.

The locations of these defibrillators will be added to our next batch of scorecards when printed to advise all golfers going forward.
