Inter-Club Golf:
The Provincial Towns Cup team were out against Borris on Saturday last and unfortunately came out on the wrong side of a close-fought match. There was little to separate the two clubs with several of the pairings going to extra holes – the deciding game at Borris went up the 19th hole where the home player prevailed. Hard luck to the team and thank you to all concerned for the effort.

Following on from their great win over Birr, the South Leinster Trophy team will face Blainroe Golf Club in the next round.

The Irish Mixed Foursomes Team will face Bunclody Golf Club in their eagerly awaited 2nd round fixture.

The FBD Barton Cup Team will face New Ross on May 8th in the second round of that competition.

Junior Golf:
The Gowran Park under 15 boys put in a superb effort in defeating the more fancied Kilkenny team in the first group match in the Leinster Inter Club Matchplay Championships played in Kilkenny Golf Club on Sunday last.

This was their first time to enter this championship and great wins by J P Treacy (5&4), Matt Kenny (3&2) and Phillip Dreeling (1 up) ensured that the Gowran boys can look forward to their visit to Carlow Golf Club next Sunday with some optimism.
Team members Paul Delahanty and Niall Treacy also put in great performances but just failed to beat very strong Kilkenny opponents, while reserves Sean Roche won 3&2 and Cormac O’Driscoll narrowly lost out.
After the Carlow match, Gowran Park have two home matches against Callan and Mountain View.

Coaching for junior golfers continue every Saturday morning at 10.30am.
