Scratch Cup Time at Gowran
This Sunday see the first of our major scratch cup days – the Intermediate Scratch Cup inviting golfers with handicaps from 10 to 18 to participate. With valuable prizes available on the day, there will be both gross and nett prizes as well as the perpetual cup for the overall winner. The competition will be a good test of golf, playing off the blue tees.
Ladies Open Day
Next Wednesday 18th July will see a Ladies Open Day with a 3 Person Rumble taking place – this is the first of our open days for ladies this year and the time sheet is filling up quickly – telephone 056 7726699 for reservations.
Members Monthly Medal – Sunday 8th July 2012
Amid heavy condition on the ground, last weekends’ monthly medal produced some outstanding scores. Playing off the blue tees, Richie Lowry (8) had a superb nett score of 64. Gerry Minogue clubhouse leader for most of the day, took the runner-up spot with a nett 66 playing of (15) – while he was delighted with 2nd place he had to keep his victory speech for another day. Murt Donnelly, playing consistent golf at the moment took 3rd place with a steady 69 nett.
Open Singles – Thursday 5th July
A weather break produced a welcome Open Singles on Thursday last. A large entry of members and visitors resulted in a great win of Sean Carey with 42 points playing off 14. Michael Phelan (10) took the runner-up spot with 40 points.

Ladies Inter Club
Congratulations to our Challenge Team who had a great win against Waterford Castle last Wednesday, 4th July in Kilkenny. The team have now qualified for the semi- finals where they will face the winners of Wicklow v Arklow. The team managed by Eileen Tobin were Eithne Donnelly, Brigid Mullins, Mary Purcell, Mary Harding and Sarah Murphy.
Hard luck to our Boyne Team who were beaten by Abbeyleix on Thurs 5th in the 3rd round, the team managed by Joan Murphy were Nora Barron & Kathleen Whitehead, Ann Farrell & Catherine O’Driscoll at home, Eileen Walsh & Cathy Hoyne, Eileen Tobin & Ger Hickey and Ann Mullins & Joan Murphy away.
Eileen Walsh & Kerri Bolger had a great day out in Kilkenny in the district finals of the Australian spoons. Unfortunately their score could not compete against the Waterford winning pair who returned a score of 39 points.
