Dear Members,

The golfing season is getting into full swing, it’s been a busy month! A lot of time has been put in by players and managers preparing for upcoming matches. Our course volunteers have done some great work and we have the 9-hole social back on Wednesday nights. I’m looking forward to attending the first match of the year which is the J.B. Carr team who are out this Saturday at 3pm. I would like to encourage members to get out and support our teams if possible. We had some great days and enjoyable matches in 2021 so hoping for more of the same this year.

Teams Update:

The confirmed fixtures for matches in the coming weeks are as follows:

– J.B. Carr v Castlecomer fixed for Saturday 30th April @ 3pm

– A. I. Club Fourball fixed for Sunday May 8th @ 2:15pm

– Jimmy Bruen v Rosslare fixed for Sunday 8th May @ 3pm

– Barton Cup v Kilkenny fixed for Saturday 21st May @ 3pm

– Barton Shield v Bunclody fixed for Sunday 22nd May @ 3.10pm

Course Volunteers:

Our course volunteers have done some great work on the course over the past number of weeks in conjunction with Joe and the team. There was some great work cleaning out the debris under the trees and edging the bunkers. The team has started on the green side bunkers and have completed 9, 10, 11 and 12 to date. There are plans also to erect a new 2 bay driving net.

If you are available to give a helping hand, please contact Pat O’Neill who is leading the volunteers on 087 277 1483. The team meet for 2 hours on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm.

ClubV1 Members App:

We have 211 downloads of the new app since it launched last month. Competition balance for prizes have now been added to the app and is visible when members login. Balances since the start of April have now been credited for prize winners. Winter competitions, 9-Hole and birdie hole balance will be credited to your account going forward. Thanks to Niall for getting this up and running.

Rules Night:

There was a good attendance with approx. 60-70 members attended the rules night which was held in conjunction with Golf Ireland this week.

I’d like to wish all our team panels the very best in upcoming matches. Keep them down the middle!

Yours in golf,

Joe Forristal

Dear Members

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of April already and back to playing summer golf – no more placing in the rough or on the fairway. The course is looking great with a good run on the ball (long
may it last). The new computer screen and printer is up and running and is making life easier for all – Thanks Aisling for all your time and effort getting it sorted.

Team competitions are about to get underway, kicking off with:

Challenge Team on 3rd May – V- Abbeyleix
Minor Team on 7th May – V- Mount Juliet
Revive Active 8th May -V- Royal Curragh
Junior Foresomes 15th May – V- Enniscorthy
Boyne Trophy 21st May – V- Templemore
Intermediate Team 29th May -V- Castlecomer

A huge thanks to team managers, caddies and players on the panels for all their time and commitment, it takes a lot of organising and practice to just get to this stage.

I would like to wish all the teams the best of luck and ladies, just enjoy the day!!
I would also encourage anyone free on the day to come out and support your club.

On 26th April, Lucy Healy from Golf Ireland hosted a 2-hour session on rules at the club house. It was a very informative night and I hope we can all remember and put into practice all that we learned.

Thanks to all who attended and a reminder that rules books are available in the locker room.
