CLASSIC TIME AT GOWRAN PARK
Gowran Park are hosting an End of Season Classic commencing today Wednesday 23rd running through to Monday 28th October 2013. The Classic is being run in conjunction with our Club Promotion Week incorporating membership offers, society golf and all other golf activity. The Four Person Team Event which will take place each day will have a fabulous first prize of an outing and meal for a society of up to 25 people, 2nd prize will be a free golf outing for group of 15 golfers and 3rd prize for a group of 10 golfers. Competitors will be asked to nominate their society / GAA / Soccer Club before they play with the chance to win a great prize and opportunity to enjoy Gowran Park’s facilities next summer. In addition all participants will enter a draw for one FREE MEMBERSHIP of Gowran Park Golf Club for 2014. The entry fee for these competitions will be €60.00 per team Wednesday/Thursday/Friday and €80.00 per team on Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday. Members entry fee throughout the week will be €10 and re-entry is allowable. This is an opportunity for prospective members and customers to come and experience one of the best courses in the South East and enjoy our superb facilities. Autumn Qualifier
The Autumn Singles qualifier continued on Thursday and Friday last, visitor Joe Costello (13) from Dundrum GC took the leading qualifying spot for the final to be held on December 13th with a fine score of 42 points just pipping local member Martin Donohoe (18) with 41 points. 3rd place went to David Delaney (17) Mountain View with 39 points. The Qualifier takes a break this week with our End of Season classic taking place. The qualifying series resumes again on Thurs / Fri Oct 31st and Nov 1st with a time sheet in place on both days.
Members 11 Hole Singles
The members competition last weekend was an 11 hole Stableford competition – it was the first in the members winter league. Paul Fox playing off 16 secured victory with a fine score of 28pts over the 11 holes while our handicap secretary Richie Lowry took the runners up spot on 27pts. Michael Fitzpatrick (13) took third place with 26 points. The League continues weekend of 2nd/3rd November with points being awarded for players within the top 9 positions.
Junior Members
There will be a midterm 9 Hole Scramble for junior/juvenile members on Tuesday 29th October, 2013. Those with a handicap meet at 9.45 a.m. for 10 a.m. tee time – those without a handicap will meet at 11.30 for a 12.00 p.m. tee off.
