Gowran Park are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of golf from Friday 2nd August through to Monday 5th August in celebrating our 12th year of business – members are invited to play on Saturday or Sunday free of charge. Visitors can play in our Open Singles competitions on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon for only €12.00 per person – re-entry allowed. Time sheets now open – 056 7726699.

3 Person Rumble – Sunday 21st July
Local members Kevin Reade (11) Greg Porter (13) and Nigel Harper (18) were victorious in the 3 person rumble on Sunday last. The boys scored 88 points with the highlight of the round an eagle 2 for Greg Porter on the 11th hole. Thurles ladies, Ann Slattery, Brigid Gleeson and Maria Dempsey took the runners up spot on the countback.
Open Singles – Thursday 18th July 2013
Last Thursdays open singles saw a large entry due to the fine weather. Kilkenny member, Jason Lawlor (6) secured top spot with a great score of 40 points winning on a countback from Gowran Park member Alan Donoghue (17).
Results from the previous weeks open singles were – Seamus Brennan (9) Gowran Park with 40 points and runner-up was J. Prendergast (10) Borris GC winning on a countback.
This weeks’ Open Singles on Thursday, being the final one of the month sees a great prize of a weekend away for 2 in the Carlton Hotel, Tralee – early booking in advisable due to busy timesheet.
LADIES
Ladies Open Day – Wednesday 17th July
There was a good turnout for the Ladies Open Day which was a three person team with 1 to count on the par 5’s, 2 on the par 4’s and 3 on the par 3’s. It was a popular format and the ladies had a very enjoyable day. With the course in great condition and a good run on the ball, there were some great scores with the winners as follows:-
1st Ger Hickey (21), Gay Latchford (26) and Margaret Bower (33) – Gowran with 94 points
2nd Nora Barron (15), Maura Coe (22), Kathleen Whitehead (28) – Gowran – with 87 points (cb)
3rd Ann Mullins (15), Helena McCormack(21) Callan, Terese Phelan (21) Callan – with 87 points
Miele
Gowran Park ladies had a great win over Waterford GC to proceed to the semi-finals of the Miele Trophy. They now face a stiff test with our near neighbours Borris GC – best wishes and continued success to our ladies.

The junior weekly competitions continue every Monday with a draw at 10.00 a.m. for juniors with handicaps and 10.30 a.m. for 9 hole non handicap and beginners. Junior coaching for all levels takes place every Wednesday and Saturday as usual.
