Rumble For Crumlin

The Annual fundraising event for Crumlin Childrens Hospital takes place in Gowran Park this week.  The competition is an 18 hole 3 person Rumble for Gowran Park members and runs through the whole week.  Members are invited to play as many times as they wish during the week with the competition continuing into next weekend’s competition.  Winners will go through to a regional qualifier at a later date.  The competition is a rumble with 1 score to count on holes 1 – 6, 2 scores on holes 7 – 12 and 3 scores on the remaining 6 holes.

 

Spring Series

The Spring Series resulted in Williamstown member, Damian Walsh (11) taking the leading qualifier spot with 40 points from Gowran Park member David McEvoy (16) on a countback.  The remaining qualifiers were equal on 38 points, Tony Dunne (8) Gowran Park, Noel Morrissey (12) Callan GC along with John Quinn (9) Williamstown GC.  Two more qualifying rounds remain with the competition continuing this Thursday and Friday with the final on 30th March

 

Open Fourball

Sunday saw an Open Fourball take place with a large entry and competition was strong.  Rob Murphy (10) and Charlie Collins (18) Bunclody Golf Club secured victory with 47 points on a countback from Gowran Park members Sean Roche (16) and Aidan Roche (6).  The Bunclody pair scored a great back 9 with 25 points to come out on top.  Edward O’Connor (11) Westmantown GC along with John Brennan (12) Loughrea GC took 3rd prize again on a countback with a fine score of 45 points. Our next Open Sunday competition will take place on 16th April and in order to aid practice for club matches, the competition will be an 18 hole Scotch Foursomes.

 

LADIES NEWS

Ladies competitions are now back to 18 Holes but are not qualifying until April due to placing, therefore Golfer of the Year and the eclectic competitions will start from the first competition in April.  The results for the ladies competition – 4th & 7th of March are as follows………

1st Judy Dick (21) 39 pts

2nd Nora Barron (13) 37 pts

 

The Ladies Winter League is now finished and the winning team who won by a significant margin of 36 points are:-

Team A – Captain Nora Barron, Ger Hickey, Judy Dick, Eileen Tobin and Eithne Byrne.

 

Please support the Rumble for Crumlin generously as proceeds are for a very good cause. There will not be a singles competition this week but Sunday is the alternate day for next week’s competition as normal.

Congratulations to Kate Hennessy on securing a prize within the Ladies Alliance held at the Heritage Golf Club recently.

 

Ladies South East Junior Alliance

Gowran Park hosted the South East Junior Alliance last Monday 12th March.  There was a fantastic turnout of over 90 golfers – all competitors were delighted with the high standard of the course and facilities.

Next weekend sees an Open Singles Competition take place on St. Patrick’s Day Saturday 17th and Bank Holiday Monday 19th March – timesheets now open – Visitors €20.00 Members €5.00.
