The Open Fourball was a great success on Sunday with a full sheet of golfers taking advantage of the opportunity to get out there and play. There were some very fine scores on the day with plenty of putts dropping, helped by the fine condition of the greens. Gowran Park members occupied the first two placings.
Result:
1st Larry Cleere (8) & Gerry Minogue (16) – 47 pts.
2nd Tony Dunne (16) & Richard Barron (9) – 45 pts.
Larry had a fine individual score including 4 birdies in his even par round.
The next Open Fourball will take place on Sunday March 14th.
Upcoming Fixtures:
Sunday 14th February will see the last of the 11 hole competitions with an 18 hole event the following weekend. A reminder that the Captains Drive-in will be held on Sunday 28th February, the format on the day being a scramble with all members invited to attend.
The Team Classic 2010 continues with a qualifying event every Friday until 19th March. This is an 18 hole Competition, teams of 3 persons and it’s open to both ladies & men.
Maximum handicap of 20 for men and 30 for ladies. The winner of each event will go forward to the grand final on Friday 26th March. The green fee is €20 per person for visitors and €10 per person for members. Contact 056 7726699 or email golf@gowranpark.ie to book your team.
