BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AHEAD – August Bank Holiday Weekend
Gowran Park are hosting an 18 hole singles competition over this Bank Holiday weekend – the competition runs right through from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th August open to both ladies and men. To celebrate our 11th year in business, we are inviting our visitors to play in the competition and enjoy the course for a special entry fee of only €11.00 with fantastic prizes on offer – including a daily prize. Timesheets now open and filling fast – Tel 056 7726699. These celebrations will lead nicely into our Open Week 2012 which takes place from Thursday 9th to Sunday 19th August. Popular competitions include a 3 Person Rumble on Friday 10th, Ladies 3 Person Team Event on Monday 13th along with a 4 person team event to conclude the weeks’ activities on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August for which 1st prize will be a 1 night stay for 2 people in the Carlton Millrace Hotel and a round of golf at Bunclody Golf Club.
Open Singles – Thursday 26th July
The fine weather brought a large entry to our regular open singles on Thursday last. Wexford member, Michael Moran (20) took the leading spot with a return of 41 points. Michael pipped our club captain, Joe Farrell, for victory in winning on a countback. Competition continues this Thursday with timesheet in place – Tel: 056 7726699.
Members Competition – Sunday 29th July
The members 18 hole singles over last weekend resulted in a win for Thomastown man Derek Dack (21) with a score of 39 points who took the leading spot on a countback from Martin Donohoe (20). Lee Graham , 1 shot further back on 38 points took 3rd place.
Next weekends’ members competition will be run in conjunction with our 11 year celebrations with the timesheet available online as usual.
Young Irelands Golf Classic – Friday 27th/Sat 28th July
Congratulation to the Young Ireland’s Hurling Club on holding a very successful Golf Classic last weekend, now in its 11th year. The hurlers produced great numbers both on the course and in the scores.
